Salerno among the capitals of innovation, not yet of the capitals

According to IPOCoach, Salerno is the third city in the South for the number of Innovative SMEs. First in Italy for the percentage of companies with an exclusive female prevalence

To date there are 41 innovative companies in Salerno, with a growing trend also in 2022. Being registered in this register denotes on the one hand the attention to research and development and the quality of the company's skills, on the other the possibility welcome venture capital into the shareholder base more easily. To date, however, there are still few companies that have done so, hence an important potential for local companies to raise funds for development. According to the IPOCoach Fabio Brigante The listing on the stock exchange could accelerate this possibility, the Salerno companies must be ready to seize it.

The Italian economy is full of industrial districts, where many SMEs emerge worldwide for their innovative capacity and quality of products and services. According to the observatory of IPOCoach, among these there is a sample in Italy that thanks to the business register has a showcase in the eyes of the stakeholders, where their innovative characteristics are highlighted. To date we have 2.388 Innovative SMEs, distributed throughout Italy, with some surprises.

The South hosts 18% of this sample, in particular lCampania alone has 172 surpassing regions such as Veneto, Piedmont or Tuscany. Salerno represents the third province of the South by number of innovative companies, ranking later Napoli e Bari (and in any case above districts such as Bergamo e Verona). A decidedly interesting number if we also highlight the strong growth trend: from the beginning of 2022 there are already 8 new companies registered (compared to 5 in the whole of 2021). Most are companies operating in services (30) others in industry / crafts (11).

There are 3 spin offs of the University of Salerno (Hippocrita Imaging, Genomix4life, Unidoc) as well as a company that enhances the tomato district, Coppola Foods, which is the only BCorp among the 41. Another distinctive element of Salerno is the high percentage (10%) of SMEs with an exclusive female prevalence in the share capital, in this case first in Italy, third (after Milano e Roma) if we consider the number of companies as an absolute value. However, few companies have so far evaluated the use of risk capital, particularly in the form of equity.

According to Fabio Brigante, Founder of IPOCoach "there is enormous potential for these companies, especially through listing on the stock exchange, with which they would access patient capital for long-term projects, leaving control firmly in the hands of historic shareholders. Always according to Brigante, it is essential to prepare in time and carefully evaluate your potential but also the related risks The Salerno companies with the appropriate characteristics, by being listed, will be able to finance growth, increase their visibility and credibility and above all attract qualified resources, the latter increasingly important and critical element in a company's strategy ".
