Sustainable mobility: the second Smarter Italy call has been published

Posted on second call of the program "Smarter Italy“, Financed and promoted by Ministry of Economic Development, from Ministry of University and Research and by the Department for the Digital transformation in order to improve the sustainable mobility of Italian municipalities through the experimentation with new technologies.

This second call is also dedicated to Smart Mobility and in particular to the conception of "Innovative solutions for improving the mobility of goods”And it is a procedure of Partnership for Innovation worth 7 million and 300 thousand euros and relates to research and innovation activities up to the subsequent purchase of the solution.

Through the contract you want to assign a research and innovation service for the development, as well as the purchase and commissioning of a innovative platform able to enable the development of sustainable urban mobility of goods, allowing the adoption of choices, strategies, measures, interventions to pursue the reduction of the number of circulating vehicles, with the same volumes of goods transported and the adoption of solutions characterized by a lower environmental footprint.

The contract consists of three phases:

  • Phase 1 "Research and Development";
  • Phase 2 "Test";
  • Phase 3 “Commissioning”.

All economic operators can take part in the challenge (from large enterprises to SMEs, from start-ups to universities, research centers, third sector). By submitting your application by 28 October 2022.

The Smarter Italy program

The “Smarter Italy” program aims to promote innovation by stimulating the world of business and research. Create new solutions to respond to the most complex social challenges in the areas of mobility, well-being, culture and environmental sustainability. The overall budget amounts to over 90 million euros and the experimentation of the solutions will take place within the municipalities that are part of the clusters identified:

  • “Smart Cities” consisting of L'Aquila, Bari, Cagliari, Catania, Genoa, Matera, Modena, Milan, Prato, Rome, Turin;
  • "Villages of the Future" consisting of Alghero, Bardonecchia, Campobasso, Carbonia, Cetraro, Concorezzo, Ginosa, Grottammare, Otranto, Pantelleria, Pietrelcina, Sestri Levante.
