The Report was verified by an independent external body, obtaining the certificate of adherence to the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards, i.e. the most widespread sustainability reporting standards.
In 2019, just to highlight some environmental data, the investments made in the Sasol Italy plants led to a reduction of NOx emissions equal to -60,6%, compared to 2010. In the same period, the emissions of SOx dropped by -95,9% and CO by -47,8%.
From an economic point of view, 2019 brought a distributed economic value of 80 million euros, has seen investments in Sustainability of 44 million euros and 4 million euros entirely dedicated to Research and Development.
Another mention of the results in the social field: 100% of fixed-term contracts, 30% of new female employees and about 6000 hours of training provided.
It is important to underline that the reporting period of this Report runs from 1 January to 31 December 2019, taking into consideration the period immediately preceding the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. For the purpose of brief contextualization, Sasol Italy from the beginning of the emergency has activated measures to ensure the maximum health and safety of all personnel, in the plants and in all locations. Protocols were immediately implemented to implement all anti-contagion measures. The reporting of the effects of the pandemic for Sasol Italy and its stakeholders will be comprehensively detailed in the 2020 Sustainability Report.
